Although there is a Retirement Village Act 2003 and its amendments, and also the Code of Practice 2008 to cope with, it is not surprising that senior folk have a hard job understanding what they are purchasing in a Retirement Village..

This Charitable Trust has been formed to help people looking at entering a certain Retirement Village in an area that they like and are not sure what the legal structure on a unit purchase are in that village.

This Charitable Trust (Retirement Villages Intending Residents) asks for a $20

(tax refund) donation for a complete 'written report' on that village plus

comments on the Disclosure Statement and Occupational Right

Agreement, together with 'who owns' the unit/house.

Many people wonder what the future holds, and as you get older you are more likely to think of living in a Retirement Village, where maybe everything is taken care of in old age, and some families are looking at taking an interest in the welfare of their parents.
